About Premier Mapping
Premier Mapping is a Cullinan-based surveying and geospatial solutions business operating across Southern Africa, built around three integrated divisions: Premier Aviation, which handles manned and unmanned aerial survey work; Premier Mapping, which covers photogrammetric mapping, digital terrain modelling and geospatial data products; and Premier Survey Solutions, which provides specialised on-site survey services with a specific focus on the mining sector. Together, the three arms give the business the capability to manage an entire aerial survey project from planning through to final delivery of survey-grade data — including both full-sized aircraft fitted with large and medium format metric digital cameras, and RPAS drones for smaller or more accessible project areas. Premier Aviation holds both an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) for manned aerial surveys and an RPAS Operator Certificate (ROC) for drone-based photography, surveys and industrial inspections.
On the mapping and surveying side, Premier Mapping’s work spans statutory mine plans compiled under the Mine Health and Safety Act, pit and stockpile volumetric calculations, topographical mapping, photogrammetric 3D mapping, digital terrain models, slope monitoring programmes, GPS ground surveys delivering sub-centimetre measurements, GIS data acquisition, and 3D modelling and visualisation for planning and presentation purposes. The business is legally appointed as the competent person in charge of surveying, mapping and mine plans at a number of South African mines in terms of the MHSA, and works with clients’ mining planning, engineering design, survey and environmental management teams to deliver integrated data packages that support operations across a site rather than addressing survey requirements in isolation.
